Biography

Bug The Root is a project that has spanned over two decades, starting as a one-man-band that morphed into an online collaborative effort.  All songs are written, arranged and produced by Quico R.  On some songs, all instruments are played by Q also, however thanks to the kindness and generosity of "virtual-friends", Bug The Root now features the artistic talents of several brilliant musicians who have agreed to work with Q.

I would have to list influences by genre, since I try to mix the genres a lot:

Brazilian: Nando Reis, Chico Science, Jorge Ben, Ze Ramalho, Gilberto Gil, many others.

Latin: Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Maná, Los Amigos Invisibles, Los Aterciopelados

English: Counting Crows, Widespread Panic, Dead Can Dance, Doors, Brendan Perry, The The, The Pogues, The Samples, Bob Marley, David Byrne, 10,000 Maniacs, Doors, Pink Floyd.

African: Angelique Kidjo and so many others!

Quico: Acoustic and Electric Rhythm guitars, Mandolin, Penny Whistle, Piano/Keys, Melodica, Hand Percussion, Keyboards
