Life Under A Microscope - CGDC&F

Farrell Jackson (05/03/09 07:38:42)   Tag: A new one from CGDC&F! They are watching...........
Life Under A Microscope - CGDC&F

An excellent hard rocker!

Gary Carciello - all guitars, songwriter, and drums programming.

Rob Grant - Bass guitar.

DrC - all keyboards, mixing, and production.

Farrell Jackson - melody, lyric, and vocal.

Gary's guitar work and writing on this song is stupendous....he's the man! Rob's bass adds a bit of funkiness to this rocker that makes one tap their feet in time. DrC's keyboards are always on fire and his very capable mixing and productions skills shine throughout!

When ever I get a song sent to me for vocal additions, as was the case with LUAM,  they are so full of energy and finesse that it inspires another level of vocal performance from me or at least I like to think so, lol!

We hope you enjoy the song!

Back to Some Prog Rock and the pressure was on...FARRELL,,,,heheheheh

Back to Some Prog Rock and the pressure was on...FARRELL,,,,heheheheh

Gentle Giant......hmmmmmm??? Remember them?? Always one of my favorite. The bass player, Ray Schulman, always played really neat riffs and I always wanted to write a song like them. NOT THAT I COULD?!?!?!?!?! BUT!! I sure wanted to try Smile. I put together a bunch of bass and drum riffs, with some off time stuff and through together a basic arrangement and went to Doc and Farrell and asked for help, to come up with a GG type song. They both liked what they heard, but Farrell grabbed the song and ran with it. He put together all of the backing guitars and vocals and did some minor re-arranging. He sent me a sample of what he had done.....and I was...WHOAED OVER!!!! I LOVED IT!! The Mood, The Feel, The Storyline.....ALL fit perfectly to me. We then gave it to DOC and the PROG gods shown over him gloriously, IMHO. He NEVER seizes to amaze me, the way he adapts to all styles of music. We then went to Gary C, to put his final Lead Guitar touch on it......and THAT, he did.....and just as DOC does, Gary too, can change with the wind and fit to whatever is put in front of him. I LOVE working with these guys. THANKS...FARRELL, DOC and GARY for making another one of my dreams come true.....a GG type song Laughing

Lorena - Lastest CDCG&F song

Farrell Jackson (02/20/09 06:59:36)   Tag: Lorena - Lastest CDCG&F song
Another collaboration from CDCG&F called Lorena! The song is listed as progressive rock but it's a blend of several styles so I guess prog rock is the right place! I love working with the powerful music that is generated from this collab group. DrC, Gary, and Rob are all great musicians that bring excellence to the musical table. In this group's work setting the word collaboration means just that. Although the initial song or idea may be presented by one individual (DrC in this case) the group has input on all aspects to bring the song to it's final stage. I believe that cohesiveness is heard in the music. That's also why this final version is take #14, LOL!

The lyric is about a passionate love that is unwinding. Each realize the inevitable end but still they long for that one last encounter.

I hope you enjoy our latest song, Lorena!

Last Day

Farrell Jackson (01/19/09 08:29:06)   Tag: New CDCG&F song about a disturbing subject..........
A prog rock song with a subject pulled from recent news. It's about a young man that was diagnosed as being bipolar. He committed suicide while away at college. He had a web cam set up in his room with a chat room of peers looking on for several hours, as he took the pills. No one called for help until it was too late. The lyric pretty much tells the story but with our interpretation...................

The ugly thought of no one really recognizing the severity of the young man's depth of illness and getting him the help he needed was disturbing to us so we did what musician's do....we wrote a song about it with the hope that it might bring some attention to the subject and to not let this teenager's life and death pass in vain.

SHE ALWAYS a remake with DAZED, Doctor C, and Gary Carciello

Rob Grant (12/06/08 14:17:36)   Tag: Rob's Blogs :-)
SHE ALWAYS a remake with DAZED, Doctor C, and Gary Carciello

This is actually an old song I wrote call "Always Miss Communication". My original intention was to redo the song with DAZED, but as I went along, I asked DOC C to redo the keyboards. This is where it all got changed smile. DOC has this thing about him, that I have always admired........I call it.....TALENT!!!......hehehehehehehe. He took the tracks that Dazed and I did.....removed my drums and added his.....got rid of my guitar and changed the whole feel of the song. I REALLY LOVED what he did. We then approached Gary Carciello and asked him to add  his guitar magic....which he did and I am MOST Appreciative of grin. Dazed wrote the lyrics and did a SUPER job with the vocals and I am PROUD as heck to have them on this song and deeply involved. A special Thanks to Farrell for his understanding of the way this all came about and his strong support of this project.

New CGDC&J collab! "Gone Is Innocence"

Farrell Jackson (11/04/08 08:24:46)   Tag: Something different....a ballad called Gone Is Innocence.
New CGDC&J collab!

DrC - Songwriting, all those fabulous keys, drums programing, and arrangement.
Gary Carciello - Terrific electric guitar harmonics and solo.
Rob Grant - Excellent Bass guitar and not "A" typical for a ballad.
Farrell Jackson - Song lyric and melody, acoustic guitar, and all vocals.

This is something different from us. It may be a mellow ballad but still very much rock and it harbors some fine musical performances.

When DrC first presented this song idea and chord structure to me, it was beautiful and I fell in love with the sound, so I jumped at the opportunity to be involved!
I always find collaborations with GCDC&J interesting by the way they build and how the final version always surprises. DrC is the man! He makes it transition from the idea stage into a full blown song.

The lyric is about how.....as life progresses and becomes more complicated, the innocence of things like first loves, new experiences, and the little pleasures of life tend to be lost, diminished, or over shadowed by all the bad in the world today. And, it becomes more and more difficult to identify the small things that keep us sane as human beings with the media constantly exploiting the ugly. Thus the feeling of.......Gone Is Innocence.

As always, it's a pleasure working with these fine,  creative musicians, who are at the top of their game and  I'm honored to be included in their collabs!

BTW, if anyone is wondering what that beautiful and haunting flute sound in the beginning is.....it's a Japanese flute type instrument called a Shakuhachi. I only know because DrC informed me. When he first suggested it, I thought he was talking about a sushi dish, lol!

I hope you enjoy the song!

The Legend

Farrell Jackson (10/11/08 12:52:08)   Tag: GDCG&J's Halloween song submission
The Legend

DrC - All sound effects, outstanding keyboards, arrangement, mixing/mastering.

Gary Carciello - Fabulous Guitar solos and rhythm fills.

Rob Grant - Excellent Bass guitar.

Farrell Jackson - songwriter, all vocals, and rhythm guitar.

This is CDCG&J's Halloween song submission

The song lyric is loosely based on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I believe most are familar with this short story written by Irving Washington and first published in 1820. There have been many cartoons, stage musicals, and film adaptation of this story over the years so I thought it would make a good Mixposure Halloween song topic and submission. Although, it was a bit challenging to tell the tale in 4 short verses. DrC, Gary, and Rob have all performed up to the excellence that The Mixposure Family has come to expect from these great musicians. I may have written the song but they all very much a part of this song's creation and together we have given it some rockin' and spooky life!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm honored that these guy's let me hang with them musically...............

Get ready for Halloween and all the spooky cool songs that are starting to pop up.......Enjoy!

KNOCK HIM OFF

Doctor C (08/08/08 06:13:42)   Tag: Crusin' Rock N' Road
Hi all!

Looks like our quartet is finally in full swing now. We just uploaded our most recent instrumental composition Knock Him Off. Rob Grant came up with this excellent groove and asked us if we could get wild for this one. Well, this is not a type of request we leave unheeded, so we did get reasonably wild. The track features fantastic harp by Farrell and, of course, Gary's world class guitar.

Thank you Rob, Farrell and Gary for making this and a lot of other magic moments happen time and time again. Love you, guys, and treasure your friendship.

New song

Doctor C (06/15/08 14:31:49)   Tag: Crusin' Rock N' Road

Hello everybody! We just finished our new song "Break, Break, Break". The lyrics are by the famous English poet Lord Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892). I think classical poetry and classic rock go very well together.

Special thanks to Farrell and Gary for their outstanding musicianship and reliability.

Enjoy!

We've got a new one called My 55 Cheverolet! It's been awhile but it's a fun one!

Farrell Jackson (06/09/08 20:58:01)   Tag: Crusin' Rock N' Road
We've got a new one called My 55 Cheverolet! It's been awhile but it's a fun one!

This is a song I wrote about the feelings I get when I cruise in my 55 Chevrolet (song picture ). It's an old style  rock n' roll shuffle but updated with  some different chord changes and instrumentation. With Gary's excellent guitar work and DrC's great keyboard playing and production skills, it cruises down some roads less traveled for an old rock n' roll song.

As always it was a pleasure working with these guys and I had a blast belting out the vocals to this song.

We sincerely hoped our good friend and collab mate, Rob Grant, would add his precise, melodic bass playing and  his ever insightful production ideas but given the current circumstances, Rob chose to sit this one out.  We missed him on this song but when he gets back, watch out!

This is a bit different style compared to our other collab songs but we hope you enjoy it just the the same.

Thanks from all of us!

Comments on the track Rob Grant Is Back!!!

Doctor C (05/06/08 17:28:18)   Tag: default
I’d like to thank everybody who reviewed “Rob Grant Is Back!!!” I appreciate your kind words, gentlemen. However, I would also like to clear any possible misconceptions and publicly admit that I can’t play with that speed and superhuman precision. It’s all modern technology pros and cons of which we discussed recently. Even though I didn’t use any samples and played the Czardas myself, I can’t in good faith accept the praise for my musicianship because the track was heavily edited. I can, however, accept the praise of my editing skills. LOL! So there it is – I’m a cheater. But I’m not that bad and I still love making music! LOL. I hope you guys won’t lose respect for my modest musical ventures after this confession.

Uh?...I think we're ALL Winners here...NO, BS at all....

Rob Grant (03/29/08 10:05:31)   Tag: default
Uh?...I think we're ALL Winners here...NO, BS at all.... I'm sorry, but I get to pick the winner and it's EVERYBODY!!! :D

I personally took Doc's thoughts as his personal feelings, from a totally musical standpoint.......and not meant to be as in a contest context. I have to say, as I listened to them all, I too was hearing so many expressed feelings......I found......EACH song hit me in a different way.....AND!!! I LOVED EACH and EVERY SONG for different reasons. The genre styles blew me away and I felt I was listeneing to an album from the world and it IS!!! I can say no less, than that I am still OVERWHELMED at the support and love shared.....SO !!!! THAT makes us all winneres and fortunate to be a part of such a GREAT Musical family.
I see no lines,to be read, anywhere in between. This whole event is unique and there's no black or white ways to respond or express your feelings. I only wish, I were on the giving side of this.......the receiving side is simply.......STUNNING !!!
I have a spot in my heart for ALL of you, here at IMS.
PLEASE!!! Each of us should take the outpour of expression in no other way than face value......WHICH !!..... to me is an overwhelming display of humans joing together and expressing support of a common goal.......GET WELL.......each of us....GET WELL !!!
Thanks you ALL......SO MUCH !!! What an AWESOME group of people we have here. PEACE !!!!

A TRUE FRIENSHIP IS BORN THRU THE NET

Rob Grant (02/14/08 04:35:59)   Tag: Rob's Blogs :-)
I was overwhelmed by an e-mail I received last night. It was from Doctor C. He attached a song file and a note that touched me DEEPLY. I ONLY hope, he doesn't mind my bringing attention to this. Over the past few months, I have been getting to know Doctor C and Gary Carciello, thru our internet relationship. It has amazed me, how many personal things developed between us, as time went by. I've seen it written that NET FRIENDS are NOT POSSIBLE. I never felt that way. I have always been myself and feel, those I have gotten to know, do the same. Anyway, like everybody, I have problems in life......less to some and more to others. Regardless, I have to deal with my own life. Doctor C and Gary have always been supportive of my mood changes and anxiuosness. My wife and been facing many of life's challenges. BUT!! Thru it all, I have found Doc C and Gary to keep things positive.....and IMS has become a VERY nice relief for me. Doctor C wrote this song and he and Gary performed it. I listened and was brought to tears. I want to share this BEAUTIFUL Song, that they have done......and show the skeptics, THAT....The INTERNET TRUELY CAN CREATE GREAT FRIENDSHIPS :) THANK YOU, DOC and GARY! PLEASE, don't be upset, with my sharing this. As for my wife and I.....life goes on and we will deal, with the help from GREAT FRIENDS. Rob

The Ugly Duckling Song....hehehehehe Doctor C presented this song to us.....and I was quite psyched up to do it......I liked the beat, I liked the reggae feel, and I liked the the theme. I have to say........THAT.......UI read the reviews before hearing the final mix. I had NO IDEA what Gary was going to do. WOW!! Doc did a superb job in his arrangement and his holding Gary to the one section. That created such an impact to me. The two of those guys....and now Farrell, who has joined us....are the BIGGEST Musical Gift, I've ever received. WOW!! I am HONORED!!!
GO DOCTOR C!!!

Doctor C - Music, engineering, keyboards, drums, arrangement
Gary Carciello - Lead Guitar
Rob - Bass

I hope you enjoy this, as much as I.

Group Participation in writing our material

Rob Grant (12/31/07 11:38:07)   Tag: Rob's Blogs :-)
I really want to clarify, the HUGE part that both Doctor C and Gary have in writing our material. I believe, I am credited as the "composer" of our songs, but without their input.......the songs would not be the same. Being the bass player and drum arranger is a natural combination. I can create the riffs used and send them a file of.....uh???....what sounds to me, like.....not much. The feel and sound that Doc creates with his orchestrations and chord usage, are all his perceptions of what I send him. What I hear when I get his samples back, is usually far from my thoughts, thus he has helped write the song. What Gary then adds, is usually even further away from my thoughts. I have to say this, because I feel we ALL write the songs....and I am not a sole composer. Because of the nice reviews we've received, I feel I owe Doc and Gary......a whole lot of credit. They have brightened my musical life immensily. THANK YOU ALL, SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT!!! Doctor C - Keyboards, orchestration, engineering, song arranging, mix, editing and keeps me in check and somewhat calm Gary - Lead guitars, song arranging and keeps me sparked up Rob - Bass, drum arranging, initial compositions, vocals, and occaisional other stuff, and begging these guys to keep working with me :D Rob

Carciello, Grant, and Doctor C.......In my eyes

Rob Grant (12/29/07 11:11:31)   Tag: Rob's Blogs :-)
The creation of computers and the Internet, has been wild, from the start. Many of us......in "the day" would have died for an opportunity, to write and record songs from their own homes. Instead, we paid a fortune to a recording studio and walked out with a cassette and the feeling of.....what the hell did I just do?!?!?! Ok, so I heard this guy....Gary Carciello, at Soundclick. I immediately reviewed his song and awaited a reply. It never came. I thought....hmmmm???...Oh well, I guess it didn't mean much to him. I saw him again at MIXPOSURE, listened to more music and reviewed again.....THIS TIME, I got a response of Thanks, that I couldn't believe. He was VERY Thankful and humble. I contacted him again...and again...and...BAM!! We became "Net buds". We talked of doing music together, but hadn't started yet. Ok, then I posted a version of "LEGACY", at MIX, requesting a collab with a keyboard player. I got a response over night, from this guy, Doctor C. I went to his page, listened...and was blown away. I couldn't believe this guy wanted to work with me. Now, I had two unbelievable musicians to play with. We took on "Legacy" and had lots of fun with it. I kept sending these guys songs to do and they kept doing them....and that's how we got together. I'm trying to get these guys to sign exclusive contracts, but they won't do it.....hahahahahahahaha! I LOVE 'EM BOTH!!! But Hey!! We needed a vocalist..........and thus we asked our Friends to join in. I loved Nigel Potter, like a net bro, so he was asked....right away....he replied and accepted. We then went to Richard Bethell of Soundclick (Admiral Bob) to join us.....then my FAVORITE Lady vocalist Inge - Serious Music. We have others in progress and I hope many more to come. LIFE IS GOOD at IMS!!! I want to THANK Gary and Doctor C...SO MUCH for their participation in this project. Their input is UNBELIEVABLE, without it, the songs would have never been the same. They take a basic song idea I send and mold it into a piece of music, that blows me away. Their CREATIVITY is what makes OUR songs. Rob
