Thank you all for the birthday greetings (Monday). I should be slowing down, but what the heck. So many scales and arpeggios to climb and descend. Twenty-two keys to get lost in. Gazillions of chord voicing to explore. All without a map and a compass. A universe yet before a final cadence. And I've sold a house - which in these times is no small achievement. |

Well, it took a while - and I admit it was fun watching the progress bar on my browser over and over and over and over... but at last the songs from the new CD, Uneasy Listening, are uploaded and available. http://www.mixposure.com/Dave_Keir/music.php It's been a long day. ... The Year Of The Sheep "But [the Scottish] hills are empty. In all of Britain only among them can one find real solitude, and if their history is known there is no satisfaction to be got from the experience." (John Prebble. From the introduction to his "The Highland Clearances", Penguin Books, 1963.) "Since you have preferred sheep to men, let sheep defend you!" (Quotation from the same book.) This is a song from the forthcoming CD which I'm lurching towards. I'm sure you all know that Bliadhna nan Caorach (The Year Of The Sheep) refers to the year 1792 during which all the flocks of sheep in Scotland formed an army and evicted the human population from the hills and the glens. (Eek!) This has reached the stage where I would welcome critique on the sonics which you think I should maybe attend to before I commit to mastering. My own ears have thrown in the towel. Some might say it's another one of my attempts at shoe-horning some lyrics into something that wants to be an acoustic fingerstyle guitar piece! Please take a listen: The Year Of The Sheep Thanks!

I want to say thank you to Mike for hostng my little show tonight. Thank you, too, to the folks taking an interest and joining us in the chat room. I always enjoy a little chat about myself and my songs! All in all, a thrill for me and I hope the listeners were touched by something they heard. Right - I'm at the business end of my bottle of wine and i've practiced enough minor 7th arpeggios and the cat's been fed. So night-night all... ...and thanks again! |

I've tried to reply to all the kind messages and comments. I hope I haven't missed anyone. Frankly, what I really want to do is kick back and enjoy some of the music here. It took a while... I hope you enjoy them. Most songs are from the CD but How Well is an early mix for the next one and is free to download and share. I'll get a couple more early mixes up soon. I'll spruce things up a bit and upload some more bits and pieces - but I feel like I want to browse around here and listen to some music for a change! Oh well. I think i've managed six songs so far. But now my browser keeps resetting the connection in the middle of uploading.
