"Dont practice until you get it right, practice until you never get it wrong."
-GM
Gerry Mancuso of Aeodema is a songwriter whose music cannot be easily encapsulated in one or two words. Fast, slow, heavy, soft; think of all the opposites you want, list them, and then consider that a rough description of the musical artist who is set to turn the music scene on its ear with such profoundly unique stylings.
Versatility
Describe Mancuso's music? That's like saying, "Describe life!" "My music is extremely versatile. I love to tap into multiple styles. I have no set boundaries that I stick within." It's not an easy thing to embrace such a broad musical palette, but with Mancuso's talent and wide-eyed scope, it can be done. And is being done. Every time Mancuso writes or performs, his music is mesmerizing and full of surprises.
Passion
"Music is the number one passion in my world." Mancuso's drive, fueled by sheer talent, has resulted in some of the most stellar songwriting you're apt to hear. Original yet accessible, entertaining but also smart and with a message for the soul Mancuso writes songs for whom even the sky is no limit. "I feel the constant need to surpass my prior accomplishments and leave my mark on this earth." With the songs Mancuso writes, it's easy to believe he has a divine mandate - and that he will accomplish it.
Instrumental
Mancuso's focus is on instrumental work. "I believe instrumental music has the greatest impact." And every song of Mancuso's is jammed with impact. "My greatest influences are instrumentalists. As much as I appreciate a great vocalist, I notice how the average listener tends to put more focus on the meaning behind the words and less on the actual music." Mancuso considers this a distraction and would rather let the music speak for itself to allow the listener to take away a message more sublime than that expressed by mere words. And with music as evocative as that written and performed by Mancuso, there's plenty to glean from his work.
Accomplishments
"I began my first musical venture at the age of 8 years old playing Alto Sax in elementary school. As the years went by, I was so blown away by the guitar playing of Slash and Kirk Hammet that I knew I had to buy a guitar. I bought my first guitar at 15 and was immediately recruited into the band "Tellurian Truth." Gerry wrote the songs for Tellurian Truth and he hasn't stopped yet. He was featured on ABC's show "Like It Is" in 2003 and also toured elite dinner party gatherings in the Long Island region with the Gospel group "The Long Island Voices." He appears on Kendo-Altar's "Almost Famous" album, released on Chuck D's label, and has released 3 LP's of his own entitled "Oceans" (2003) "Revelations" (2005) and his latest expressive masterpiece "Mystic Visions" (2009) which is soon to be sold on iTunes by this Summer.
Current and Future Projects
Gerry's three latest projects have been more and more challenging. He is currently working with a new jazz fusion based band in Oceanside, NY. The band performs covers as well as originals, and anticipates tour dates by the Summer. He'll also be working with "Absolution;" a melodic metal band hailing from Huntington, NY. In the studio? Gerry has already started writing a new studio album which features Elizabeth Sime on Vocals and DJ AVA Engineering & Mixing.
