Biography

I suppose that it doesn't really make any difference what I have done in the past and who I've played with so I'll just dispense with all that. I don't like to live in the past. To-day and the future is much more interesting to me anyway, even though I've had an opportunity to play and learn with some of the great known jazz artists of our time.

A couple of things I'll mention here is that I am a formally trained musician and have been in music for over 5 decades, have a degree in music education and although I can play several instruments, some equally well, to-day I enjoy creating music with my guitars. Some have made comments regarding me mastering several instruments. I don't consider myself as having mastered anything yet and still continue practicing many hours a day in improving myself. The day I stop learning and improving myself musically is when I can no longer play an instrument or am 6 feet under ground. It's a life style I chose many years ago when I decided to become a musician.

My playing today simply reflects my experiences as a musician for 5+ decades, a music educator and clinician.

Yup! If you haven't guessed it yet I plan on doing some stuff on my classical (nylon string) guitar for now. I simply became discouraged with it as I couldn't get a decent recording tone on it and since the neck is much wider than a normal guitar, stretching to reach notes became too painful. I always loved the sound of the nylon string guitar and used to listen to guys like Charlie Byrd, Luiz Bonfá and later Peter White. I couldn't afford an expensive classical guitar back in the day so I had to make due with a cheap $100.00 Yamaha which I got for about $70 back in the early 70's from a music store where I taught. Now that I have solved both problems; tone and the stretching thing, I can do some stuff I've been waiting to do for quite some time.  I still have that cheap guitar and most of my music will be created on it.
