Biography
Music is like breathing air...without it I would surely die...
I am a 44 year old married and mother of three boys.
I have always loved singing and at a early age I remember recording myself singing on my litte panasonic tape recorder.
I have hung out with musicians my entire life and have secretly wanted to be a professional singer.
I was always a closet singer though, afraid to show myself until the age of 27 when I met my husband Brad and began singing in a copy band in town. Later my husband and I started playing in church where I became a lead singer in the choir. What a rush it is to sing with 100+ people behind you...what power that brings. I am always inspired by that, and by the sweet sounds of musicians playing from their spirit.
I grew up listening to Journey, Styx, Boston, Kansas, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, Eagles...I could go on and on. These vocal bands not only taught me how to sing, they taught me all I needed to know about harmonies. I heard them, I picked them out and played around with them. I love singing lead but I find equal joy in parts too.
Honestly I am still a newbie and I am learning daily about my abilities as a songwriter and a vocalist. I am stretching myself into new genres and finding I can do so much more than my mind has lead me to believe.
Music is a free expression of each individual.
I am finding my own freedom and loosing the fear of expressing it.
I hope you enjoy my music and I am thankful to have this place to share and enjoy others and their art as well.
Currently I am singing back ups in a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band and I am having a ball.

Hello Debra Lee! Thank you so much for your recent visit. Nice to meet you! Listening to "Guardian Angel" and just love it! (I have a thing for angels, lol - yes, I believe in angels!) Amazing voice you have-angelic! So easy to listen to, and the song itself is stunning! Love it & adding to my favs! :)

"Pray for Another Day" - Continue to fill up your songs with your passion and talent. There's no promise of another day, you truly have ability; even if confidence has to catch up: that's okay. Allow your faith to set the standard and pull you higher. THis is really good stuff - well interpreted vocally and musically.
"Guardian Angel" - Mrs. anderson: beautiful guitar playing in the opening and throughout. Thanks for being here - you're a real asset to the site. I am so glad you've continued to stretch your voice, and just participate in your own dreams. You've been gifted with a real talent that needs to be shared. The band backs you up well. Great stuff here.

Hi Debra, thanks for stopping by and listening to my music. I'm listening to Guardian Angel as I write this and i'm stunned. Your voice has a incredibly sweet innocence to it, juxtaposed to the backdrop of the Country Rock backgroud it's a perfect combination. If I heard this on the radio i'd call up to see who the artist was. Brilliant songwriting, production and performance! Can't wait to listen to more.
Hi Debra Lee - first, thanks for the kind words! Your songs are great!! I love the sound and atmosphere... and your voice is awesome! Did you write "Guardian Angel" and "All I Need"? If so, you are a very gifted songwriter indeed. I'm going back to listen to your other songs!

WOW nice.... Love it all... Keep up the great work....
Wow, 80's metal all the way. Care to place pictures of you when you were hard rocking in the 80's? I wonder how it was like back then. I was still in my lovely moms womb.....
Hey Debra, thanks for the flattering comments. I never thought that a 44 year old mother of three would ever want to listen to metal music which has been stereotyped as a bad influence to the youth. Well, you are undoubtedly a great artist with talent. Keep up the good work. You remind me of this 50 yr old mother of 2( my friend actually) who sings at this nice bar....

Debra Lee, many thanks for your kind words.
Debra Lee - Many thanks for letting me know the track... "Mark My Words" was definitely an interesting one, as after receiving the track in from my guitar-playing pal Mark Kissinger, I popped the tape into the 4-track, hooked up my mike, sat down & did the vocal over top of it with no pre-planned schema... totally spontaneous... as I'm sure you know, sometimes that "works", other times it doesn't... thanks for listening!
Hey there, DL; thanks for visiting my page. You commented on my "vocal freedom", but didn't let me know which specific tune intrigued you? Can you let me know, please? Thanks. LIKE your vocal style... I'm in the middle of a move, but as soon as I get settled in in our home, will stop by & write a review (or more) of your tunes!
